So I see on the internet in 2007 the Prado got the 3.0 D4D engine is this true for South African Prado's also or only the overseas once ? Sorry I know absolutely nothing about the Prado Diesel, I currently drive a 2009 Fortuner D4D and want to get a Prado with a D4D so thought all 2005 up Prado's will have the D4D engine ??

The D4D is using about 20% less fuel. The rav4 uses a diesel around 2 litres, they've been available in the UK for quite some time. The 2KD engine (2.5L) seems to have disappeared in NZ. Maybe they weren't selling enough but all the 2wd hiluxs now use the 3.0 1KD. The 2KD had a wastegated turbo.
Replied by sdmuleman on topic D4D 78A vs 82J. Thought there might be another, my bad. There appears to be at least 3 parts manuals - 82J1-3443, 82J3444-4150 and 4151-. First break corresponds to the 3304 engine change, any idea what the second one is? The manual I had sold the gentleman is the first - 82J1-3443.
Answered by Honest John. It's a BMW engine, not a Toyota engine. Yes, you picked the wrong car for long distance work. Toyota hybrids are brilliant for town and suburbs and fantastic for taxis; not so great over a 300 mile motorway run, but you should still get 60mpg plus.
