IMO gw2 is fabulous for friends. It’s co-op friendly for story mode (after level 60, earlier if you choose the same backstory starting options and/or same level 40 options). It’s great until your goals & levels of commitment to the goals diverge. Then it can be challenging but that is true with pretty much any MMO. Join a party with your friends (/invite name or /join name - you can also do it through the Contacts list and right-clicking). You can immediately enter the capital city. Every capital city for every race has an Asura Gate (portals, basically) to Lion's Arch. Lion's Arch is a big hub sort of in the middle-ish of the GW 2 world. Guild Wars 2 has introduced a new feature to the mega server system called the Map Queue System. This feature allows players to queue up to join open-world maps that are at their maximum capacity, making it easier for friends to join each other for world events. This new feature is currently in beta as the developers continue to monitor it for any issues and gather feedback from players. If you're both in the same open world map, then you should be able to join each other's instances (unless they're full). If you're in story instances (including the first one when you're still level 1), in dungeons, in WvW or PvP, and possibly a few other situations I forgot, then you cannot join each other that way. The best solution right now is to Guest onto a different (go to world select on the character select screen), low populated server, and have your friend do the same. brickwalker0 11 years ago #4. I have this problem as well but so far what my friend and i do is once we are in the same party, the person who joined logs out to the main screen 0Yhmv. Join a public group and work your way up to the top of the tower, finishing the instance. On the top level, past the big Tri-key Chest and near some vendors and the diving goggles, step into the green star and enter your personal story instance. Complete this story step and get the achievement "Back to the Past". Other squad members CANNOT join the instance. Only one person is allowed to be in the instance at a time in the same squad. Currently, the bypass to this is be in a party and go in together. Please get this fix asap as it ruins the whole point of this place for training squads or squads with 5+ members to enter the instance. Entering an instance in a party will prompt other party members to join. Party members will automatically attempt to join the same map as the first party member who enters. If the map is full, players can attempt to join by right-clicking another party member's icon or name and select "Join In" while in the same zone. Friends instances / map marker. I seem to be having trouble with getting into friends instances and seeing their map marker icon when in a party. When I first started playing on Saturday, I was able to see my friends marker anywhere in the zone (as long as we were in the same zone instance of course). Now it seems that sometimes they vanish If you are on the same region you can click on the party member and select "Join in ~name of the map~". 1. Mez_Koo • 6 yr. ago. Are you on the same region (NA or EU) and have you tried right clicking your friend while in a party and clicking "join in map." 1. Kulinda • kulinda.github.io • 6 yr. ago.
